Wireless Mesh Networks

If you wonder about technology as a boon or a bane, then you must not forget to take configuring the same into account. Well it takes a a helluva lot of a time to get something up and running. and dont even talk about wifi products, which for advanced installations need site planning channel management and stuff like that...

So where does this leaves us. How do i manage my community network...how do i extend the range of it. how do i get good throughput at all places.. how do i do this ...how do i do that...

the answer is simple...wireless mesh networks...just buy a few of these mesh access points..put them up strategically and connect one of them to the backbone internet.power them up and do very basic config...and lo! you have your entire neighbourhood unwired...

Mesh network is based on the 802.11s standard. its still evolving..the primary motivation is to have a self-configuring , self-healing network that takes care of itself. The addition of new mesh poinys is effortless..just plug them up and they also become a part of the network and extend the range..if one mesh point is down ( for power failure or something) the others intelligently learn about that and they reconfigure the network effectively...

over all its fantastic...i will describe some products later (insha allah)...watch out..
